ITV Coronation Street character returns with a bombshell tonight as another exits

Coronation Street is lining up explosive scenes on Wednesday night.

Only recently, Roy Cropper has found himself arrested, charged and the number one suspect for the supposed murder of missing teenager Lauren Bolton. Soap fans will recall that troubled youngster Lauren abruptly left the cobbles earlier this year and her friend Bobby has been left concerned after he found her flat unlocked with Lauren nowhere to be seen.

Viewers never saw Lauren leave and it seems she told no one close to her of her plan to leave Weatherfield aside from Roy. Bobby reported Lauren as missing to the police and Roy has found himself under suspicion due to his kind nature, especially after he was caught innocently cleaning Lauren’s flat, which some people thought proved he was guilty and internet sleuths have since made his life a misery with a barrage of online abuse.

On Monday’s episode, Daniel Osbourne, who found himself as a suspect too prior to Roy’s arrest, decided to set up a meeting with Nicky Wheatley because as a former sex worker, she may have news or information regarding Lauren, who was posting content onto O-Vidz before her disappearance.

On Wednesday’s episode, which is airing this evening, Nicky returns to the cobbles once again and reveals to Daniel that she’s off to meet a girl called Ellie who was groomed as a teenager and might have information about Lauren. Nicky was first introduced to viewers four years ago as Daniel struggled following the death of his wife Sinead Tinker. He met Nicky – who worked as an escort at the time – when he was still grieving for Sinead.

The pair soon became friends and Daniel ended up going back to her hotel room, only for her to reveal that she was an escort. He was upset after finding out she wanted to spend time with him for that reason, as he thought they had really bonded. Since Nicky’s first appearance back in 2020, the character has made brief returns over the years.
