Soap watchers will recall that mysterious newcomer Rowan Cunliffe has targeted Leanne
Battersby with his “self-improvement group” The Institute. Rowan has also been pulling
Leanne away from partner Nick Tilsley and even her sister Toyah Battersby during her time
of need. With Nick and Toyah left betrayed by Leanne, the duo have embarked in a secret affair with Rowan since blackmailing the duo.
In spoilers next week, Toyah, who was recently diagnosed with germ-cell ovarian cancer, prepares for her operation while Rowan assures Leanne she’s doing the right thing by distancing herself from Toyah upcoming surgery and looking after number one. Nick is left mortified by his partner Leanne’s behaviour and he remains by Toyah’s side.
Meanwhile, Rowan’s latest recruit Amy Barlow tells an excited Leanne she’s looking to invest her inheritance in the new resource centre but she’ll need sign-off from Ken Barlow. Later, Nick calls Leanne, telling her that Toyah has suffered complications and she needs to get to the hospital as soon as possible. Will she be there for her sister and is Toyah okay?
Later in the week, Rowan tells Leanne about Amy’s decision but the cult leader is soon left concerned when Leanne admits she hasn’t got time to discuss it as she’s off to visit Toyah, leaving him worried that he’s losing his grip on her. Over at the hospital, Leanne reunites with her sister while later Nick confides in Toyah that he loves her and plans to break the news to Leanne.
After his declaration, Rowan leaves a chilling voicemail to Nick, telling him to cough up the £20k investment for The Institute or he’ll spill the beans about his affair with Toyah. What will Nick do? Later in the week, Leanne’s son Simon Barlow encourages her to visit him in Rotterdam. However, she’s soon put in a tricky spot when Rowan tells Leanne that The Institute want to fast-track her to level eight, she’s torn over what to do with Nick urging her to see her Simon. What will she do and will she learn the truth about Nick and Toyah?
