Emrhys Cooper is among the newest additions to the cast of Coronation Street and he has been receiving support from loved ones over his role on the beloved soap opera.
The actor, 39, made his debut as Rowan Cunliffe on the ITV show last month. The character was introduced as the host of a seminar for organisation the Autovalent Institute, which has drawn in Leanne Battersby (played by Jane Danson).
Leanne took her son Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) to the event and she has since been confiding in Rowan about her own past. Fans have been theorising over Rowan’s agenda after it was revealed that he was recording their conversations and it’s been teased that other residents will be drawn in.
The new storyline has attracted attention and Emrhys has received support from his family over the role. The actor is believed to have grown up in Totnes, Devon, but in more recent years had seemingly been living abroad in the US.
He’s understood to be married to producer Donal Brophy. The couple are said to have founded “independent entertainment company” Idyllwild Pictures together and they have worked with the likes of Zachary Quinto.
Expressing excitement over Emrhys’ role on Coronation Street, Donal wrote in a post on Instagram just last month: “Proud husband alert. One of those surreal moments when your hubby is the new hot thing on the soap opera that you grew up with and my dear mam loved so much.”
