Kym Marsh has announced her return to music while taking a break from TV work.

The former Coronation Street actress who found fame with the noughties pop group Hear’Say has seen her music take a back seat in recent years. But Kym, 47, has now teased that she’ll be making a return to the industry while still tabling in the acting industry.

During an appearance on Morning Live, Kim told Gethin Jones and Michelle Ackerley that she’s signed on the dotted line for a new role in a touring theatre production which will see her travel up and down the country. Whiston-born Kym has agreed to take part in 101 Dalmations the Musical which will hit the road later this year.

“I am about to go off on tour and play Cruella de Vil in 101 Dalmatians,” she told the presenters. She went on to add: “I am so excited, it’s really funny because everyone that knows me, including you, would say ‘Kym’s such a dog lover’ so it’s weird because obviously, I have to pretend that I don’t like the dogs.”

But Kym, who lost her dad earlier this year to prostate cancer revealed how she was left feeling bittersweet by the news as her dad won’t be around to see her perform. She commented: “The sad part is that he won’t be around to see it but he would have loved it, he would have been so thrilled to see me play this part.

“But it has come at a good time, to give me a bit of a lift and something to get my head into and kind of really look forward to. And the family are all excited, because obviously it’s a very family show, if you’re going to come to the theatre you can bring the kids, there’s something for everyone.”
