In the upcoming episodes of Coronation Street, Leanne Battersby is set to experience a major shift, causing cult leader Rowan Conliff to worry that he might be losing his grip on her. Leanne’s sister, Toya Battersby, was diagnosed with germ cell ovarian cancer in July and has been advised to undergo chemotherapy and possibly surgery to remove the tumor.

In the latest developments, Leanne horrifies her partner Nick Tilsley by refusing to support Toya as she prepares for her hospital treatment, following Rowan’s cold-hearted advice to distance herself from her sister. Rowan continues to push Leanne to prioritize her own needs over Toya’s, urging her to stay away during Toya’s therapy.

Despite Rowan’s manipulation, Nick takes Toya to the hospital himself and reaches out to Leanne when the specialist has some troubling news. Nick informs Leanne that Toya has faced complications during her treatment and insists she should come to the hospital immediately. Meanwhile, Rowan is keeping Leanne preoccupied with plans for Amy Barlow’s involvement with his institute, but he becomes concerned as Leanne insists on visiting Toya and doesn’t have time for Rowan’s discussions.

Leanne makes a brief visit to Toya’s hospital bed to give her a hug before leaving for the hospital, but Nick is soon going to express his love for Toya, which complicates matters further. He’s determined to be honest with Leanne about his and Toya’s recent romantic developments, but Toya will try to persuade him to keep the truth from Leanne. The question remains: how far will Rowan go to regain control over Leanne?

Rowan is also pushing Leanne and Amy to invest large sums of money in his institute’s new resource center, drawing them further into his scheme. These dramatic scenes will unfold on Coronation Street on Monday, August 12th, and Wednesday, August 14th.
