Paul Hollywood, 57, and new wife Melissa Spalding, 39, are pictured together for the first time since their wedding as they pay an unexpected visit to the set of Emmerdale

Paul Hollywood and his new wife Melissa Spalding have been pictured for the first time since tying the knot as they paid an unexpected visit to the Emmerdale set on Monday.

The Great British Bake Off host, 57, and his wife, 39, were seen sitting on the Dingles’ leather couch at the legendary farm in West Yorkshire, just over two weeks on from their luxury wedding in Cyprus.

The couple cosied up to Samson, played by Sam Hall; Sam, played by James Hooton; Mandy, played by Lisa Riley and Lydia, played by Karen Blick.

The Dingle crew grinned from ear-to-ear as they posed for a snap with the television personality.

Another picture, posted on Emmerdale’s X – formerly known as Twitter – account, saw Paul casually leaning on the village’s iconic ‘Emmerdale’ street sign.

The photographs made some devoted soap fans question whether he could be involved in future shows.

One wrote: ‘So that is who is in the chair tonight’ while another commented: ‘Hope he is not audition too replace Jane Hudson!’

Despite the mixed bag of opinions about Paul’s presence on the show, Emmerdale confirmed to MailOnline: ‘It was just a behind-the-scenes visit to the show so he won’t be appearing on Emmerdale anytime soon.’

The ITV studio explained that Paul spent the day exploring the village and their studios.

Paul remarried just over two weeks ago, tying the knot with the pub landlady at a luxury hotel in Cyprus with his nearest and dearest in attendance – but his son Josh, 21, was notably absent.

Around 75 of the star’s ‘closest’ friends and family – including fellow GBBO judge Prue Leith – cheered the couple on at their destination wedding.

The nuptials took place at the stunning Ayia Athanasia chapel which forms part of the luxury Anassa Hotel, located on the north-west Akamas peninsula, one of the most unspoilt areas of the holiday island.

However, it was not quite the family occasion he might have hoped it would be, as his son Josh, by his first marriage to Alex, was not there.
