In a dramatic twist on Coronation Street, Joel Dearing’s vengeful scheme against his former fiancée, Dee Dee Bailey, has come to light. Following Joel’s brutal attack on Lauren Bolton, which was recently reported to the police, Dee Dee and DS Swain have joined forces to uncover more about Joel’s troubling past. The drama intensified last week when Lauren, while visiting their hospitalized son Frankie, came face-to-face with Joel. Frankie, who arrived prematurely a few weeks ago, is currently under medical observation. During their hospital encounter, Joel threatened to destroy Lauren’s life, mimicking the very threats Lauren had made against him. In a heated confrontation, Lauren retaliated, resulting in a cut to Joel’s lip.

On tonight’s episode (September 2), Joel’s threats escalate as he reveals his intention to challenge Lauren’s custody of Frankie. Dee Dee is quick to accuse Joel of seeking revenge rather than genuinely caring for his son. Joel, however, insists that his intentions are to ensure Frankie’s safety. Undeterred, Dee Dee presses on, reporting Joel’s threats to Swain and continuing her search for more evidence of his past misdeeds.

Lauren, meanwhile, remains wary of Dee Dee’s involvement, but Swain reveals to Dee Dee that Joel had previously worked for Walcot, a company specializing in assisting vulnerable youth. Joel had left the company abruptly, and Walcot’s head, Ma Walcott, had previously spoken highly of him. After Dee Dee’s inquiry, Ma Walcott contacts Joel to inform him of Dee Dee’s probing questions. Joel confronts Dee Dee later, threatening to expose her father for insider trading if she doesn’t cease her investigation. He accuses Dee Dee of prying into matters that don’t concern her, stating that their past affection had prevented him from disclosing this information sooner. Insider trading is a serious offense, and Joel uses this threat to coerce Dee Dee into backing off.

Further complicating matters, Walcot’s receptionist offers Dee Dee Joel’s old work phone, hoping to provide clarity on his sudden departure from the company. Dee Dee receives the phone and passes it to Swain, who begins investigating its contents. On the street, Kit Green discloses that there are allegations of insider trading against Ed, which Dee Dee finds shocking. She is left to question Joel’s motives and actions.

In a dramatic turn, Adam advises Dee Dee to step down from her position until Joel’s accusations are resolved. During a heated argument with Kit, Dee Dee receives a call from Swain, who informs her that an acquaintance in forensics is analyzing Joel’s phone for more evidence. Swain asserts their determination to bring Joel to justice, declaring, “We’re going to nail that man.”
