Coronation Street has confirmed Rowan Cunliffe’s fate in the latest episode
Earlier this week, Nick Tilsley went to DS Lisa Swain with a notebook full of evidence implicating Rowan and his cult, The Institute, with
coercion and blackmail.
Viewers may remember that Leanne Battersby found incriminating files on Rowan’s laptop and promised she’d use them to get Amy Barlow her investment money back.
Friday’s (September 13) episode saw Leanne and sister Toyah Battersby still at odds after Leanne discovered her sibling’s affair with Nick.
Toyah has been trying to rebuild trust with Leanne, even rejecting a possible romantic future with Nick because she didn’t want to hurt her sister any further.
The siblings were barely speaking in the latest instalment until Sam Blakeman encouraged them to forget about Nick and focus on their sisterhood.
Toyah then asked Leanne to be civil for Sam’s sake, and before long, they were teaming up to make some food for Billy following Paul’s death.
Toyah and Leanne weren’t able to forget about Nick for long because he soon showed up to deliver some shocking news about The Institute.
“The police have been in touch. Rowan has been charged with blackmail and fraud,” Nick announced. “He’s going to go down.”
Leanne was disappointed that Rowan was essentially becoming a ‘fall guy’ while The Institute could carry on manipulating others.
“You were never going to bring them all down… but [Rowan’s arrest] is not nothing,” Nick reminded her.
Nick was surprised to see a noticeable thawing between Leanne and Toyah, though he wasn’t invited to join them for a drink to toast the good news.
Can Nick make amends with Leanne?
