Big news in Coronation Street as Joel Dearing faces a major revelation! Recent episodes have exposed the unscrupulous solicitor, but there’s a surprising twist.

In the August 19 episode, DD Bailey and DS Lisa Swain uncover damning evidence about Joel. Last week, suspicion grew around Joel as DD and DS Swain began to question his honesty. On Monday, DD stumbled upon crucial proof that Joel had been deceptive about a charm bracelet he supposedly bought for his daughter. During her investigation, DD discovered Lauren Bolton’s expensive necklace listed on the same website Joel claimed to have used for the bracelet. When DD brought this up with DS Swain, who had never seen the necklace before, it became clear that Joel had fabricated his story about giving the police a photo of it when Lauren went missing earlier in the year.

Realizing that Lauren was about to leave for Belfast, DD followed Joel to the hospital. There, she saw him and Lauren checking on their baby in the incubator. After Joel left, DD confronted Lauren with her findings. Overwhelmed, Lauren admitted that Joel was indeed the father of her child. As Lauren agreed to report Joel to the authorities, she was unaware that Joel was listening from behind a door. At that moment, Joel was giving a statement to the corrupt officer, Kit Green.

Viewers will recall that Kit had previously falsified evidence against Nathan Curtis to keep him imprisoned, and now he’s desperate to hide his own misdeeds. The episode concluded with a dramatic face-off at the police station, where DS Swain arrested Joel. Kit, trying to cover his tracks, suggested that DS Swain would also need to question Lauren about suspicions that she had used illegal abortion drugs. This was linked to the premature birth of her child due to Joel’s secret drugging.

In a heated confrontation, Lauren accused Joel of lying, and DS Swain declared that Lauren would need to be questioned carefully. The episode set the stage for Joel’s imminent downfall.

On August 16, in another gripping episode, Joel’s deceit continued to unravel. DD and DS Swain both uncovered troubling details about Joel’s shady dealings. DD became increasingly suspicious when she learned that Joel had never actually given the charm bracelet he claimed to have purchased for his daughter, as confirmed by Joel’s ex, Emily. Emily also noted that Joel was still paying rent on his old flat, despite his claims otherwise.

DD sneaked into Joel’s former flat and found some nail varnish but no trace of the charm bracelet. When she confronted Joel about these discrepancies, he spun a convincing story, claiming the bracelet was sold out of spite and the nail varnish was linked to his property rental. Despite Joel’s assurances, DD was left disheartened and skeptical.

Joel’s troubles deepened as the Weatherfield police grew suspicious of him, especially after Betsy Swain reported him for assaulting her. DS Swain interviewed Joel, who denied the allegations, stating he had only given Betsy money to help her. However, DS Swain’s investigation revealed that Joel had previously defended Lauren in a criminal damage case.
