Since soaps tend to air before the watershed, fans don’t tend to expect many racy antics.

But over the years, some of our favourite soap couples have stripped off for some fade-to-black lovemaking, while others showed a little more than viewers bargained for on TV. For Emmerdale stars Emma Atkins and Lawrence J Robb, one of their scenes wasn’t allowed to be shown pre-watershed as it was simply too raunchy.

Their van romp had to be re-shot from a different angle with the camera further away, as it failed a compliance for a pre-watershed show. Emma told Loose Women: “So the guy who owned the van, he was shaking it. We all got told to just shake the van so then we went for it.

“And then obviously the director came over and went, ‘compliance have said no’. So they had to do a huge wide shot from the field.” Lawrence left Denise Welch in hysterics with his impression of the moment – and fans too.

Emmerdale’s Charity and Mack aren’t the only ones getting it on in a van; over on Coronation Street, Faye Brookes’ character Kate Connor left fans shocked when she got racy with Rana Nazir star Bhavna Limbachia.

In the back of a van, the pair struggled to keep their hands off each other as they stripped off, but Luke Britton soon turned up and interrupted the gals – who were in just their bras for the racy moment. Their affair proved one of the sauciest in soap history, with one social media user tweeting at the time: “Kana [Kate and Rana] in the van was the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen.”

Over in Hollyoaks, the moment that secured Jorgie Porter’s place as a soap sex symbol came in the racier spin-off Hollyoaks Later. One outrageous sex scene saw her character Theresa dress up in a bra and tiny skirt that looked to be made of whipped cream.

She added a pair of bunny ears and a striped scarf around her neck to impress love interest Joel back in 2012. Jorgie, however, was under strict instructions to keep her boobs covered – from her mum.

She told The Sun: “I told my mum what I was going to be doing and she said, ‘You do what you think is necessary, but at the end of the day don’t get your nipples out!’ I’ve seen the pictures from the really rude bits and they’re quite shocking.”
